I wrote a blog for five years about our trials and tribulations of totally refitting a sailboat, and THEN about our travels. I love blogging, and I love interacting with my readers.
Unfortunately, the name of the blog was directly tied to the name of our boat, and would not translate to a general travel blog. Additionally, we removed the blog from the Internet out of respect for the new owners… so they can start their own blog about their own adventures.
As I described on the “About Us” page, I love traveling. I took any opportunity (and made a few) during my time in the Navy to move to new countries, and deploy to interesting locations. I always loved a new adventure. I also love languages, and I learned that German has a word for “Far-sickness”: it’s called “Fernweh.” So, now that I’ve learned a ton about blogging, and that I needed a more general blog name to cover all of my traveling: whether via sail, train, car, or on foot… Postcards From Fernweh was born.
I am excited to be blogging again, and hope you enjoy (armchair) traveling with me!
